Mineralogical and Metaphysical Properties of Fluorite
Fluorite, or Calcium Fluoride, is a relatively soft, translucent, richly colored mineral, which is highly fluorescent, with a strong blue-violet color under a black light.
Fluorite grows into readily identifiable octahedron shaped crystals with well defined edges and faces. Octahedrons can be visualized as two pyramids joined at the base.
Fluorite often occurs in glassy bands found in a variety of mineral environments. Fluorite is commonly found in metallic hydrothermal deposits associated with lead, silver, galena, sphalerite, or cobalt deposits.
Fluorite is often found in hydro-thermal deposits such as areas with hot springs, where porous limestone has been infused with aqueous fluoride.
Fluorite grows naturally into readily identifiable octahedal crystals with well defined edges and faces. Octahedrons can be visualized as two pyramids joined at the base. Natural crystals of diamond, fluorite and alum are all octahedral in shape.
In sacred geometry, the octahedron represents the element of air, and is associated with the heart chakra.
There are eight moon phases per lunar month. The maple flower, the jellyfish and certain oceanic sponges display an eight-fold symmetry.
In Buddhism, the Eight-fold Path is the path to Enlightenment. In the I Ching of Chinese Taoism, there are eight trigrams that interact to create a model of the Universe. I
n many spiritual traditions, eight is the number of the Great Goddess actively birthing the material Universe. In the Hindu Sri Yantra, a sacred mandala depicting the Goddess Laxmi, there is an eight petaled lotus, which signifies the act of creation. In some Native American traditions the Goddess as Creatrix is depicted as a Spider weaving the web of life, and she has eight legs.
Rainbow fluorite contains blue, blue-green, green, turquoise, royal blue, purple, and lavender markings, often seen in layers, as in this beautiful specimen.
Fluorite is said by crystal healers to enhance our powers of discernment, and help us reach a balance in relationships. All colors of fluorite are effective for clearing the aura and energy centers and can facilitate a deep state of meditation.
Red and orange fluorite are said to help activate the root and second chakras, increasing our sense of personal well-being, sexual magnetism and improving the flow of energy throughout the body. Yellow fluorite helps to clear the mind and help us to empower ourselves. Green fluorite opens the heart, soothes the emotions, heals a broken heart, and activates the Higher Mind, which depends upon an open heart to help us transcend our normal, constricted, egoistic viewpoint. Blue or turquoise fluorite soothes and energizes the throat chakra, and purple or lavender fluorite activates the crown chakra.
Blue or turquoise fluorite soothes and energizes the throat chakra, and purple or lavender fluorite activates the crown chakra.
The colors purple and violet are associated with the seventh, or crown chakra, in the human energy body, and the Violet Ray is the Seventh of the Seven Rays of Creation. The Seventh Ray is one aspect of the Holy Spirit, a combination of the blue flame of faith and the pink flame of love.
Amethyst displays coloration ranging from violet to purple, and all these colors are associated with the Violet Ray and the Violet Flame. Purple fluorite is an excellent stone for working with the Violet Ray and the Violet Flame.
The Ascended Master who is Master of the Seventh Ray is Count St. Germain, the eighteenth century reincarnation of the Western Mystic and Adept Christian Rosenkreuz, apochryphal founder of the Rosicrucian Order. The Seventh Ray focus greatly on the use of ceremonial magic and alchemy to purify and transmute the lower, animal instincts of humanity into higher impulses, higher thought-forms, more evolved emotional states, and more purified energetic signatures at all levels of being.
In the pantheon of modern day New Age Guides and Teachers, the Count Saint Germain is called "The World Teacher" and "The Master of the Violet Ray" and is thought to communicate mind-to-mind with many, many students around the world. There is thought to be a large contingent of his students alive today in the United States, the center of modern Empire, just as Paris was the center of European Empire at the time of St. Germain.
Many New Age students of St. Germain utilize crystals and gemstones in their spiritual practice, for healing and in meditation, in a modern alchemical quest for Higher Self, Higher Mind and Higher Purpose. Modern New Age practice encompasses a belief in the theory of karma and reincarnation. The belief in reincarnation has its roots in the Hindu and Egyptian Mystery School traditions, and is fundamental to the Greek Mystery School Tradition of the pre-Socratic philosophers, as we discuss at great length in the online E-Book “Spirits of Stone: A Lightworker's Guide to Crystals for Healing and Meditation.
New Age students of the Ancient Wisdom Teachings often utilize crystals and gemstones, along with meditation techniques, Reiki and past life regression therapy to access memories of past lives, and to release the detrimental patterns of behavior, negative emotions and outmoded mental maps of the world imprinted in our cells, our hearts, our minds and our karma from traumas experienced aeons ago.
Many of these modern acolytes of the Great Alchemist utilize crystals and gemstones thought to resonate with the energy vibration of the Violet Ray, under the guidance of Master St. Germain for purification and to raise the kundalini energy in a quest for Unity Consciousness.
