During a crystal healing or Reiki self-treatment session, place the crystal in your left hand, with the points pointing in toward your wrist. The left hand is the is the receptive hand. Or alternatively, just set the Citrine Elestial on a table or altar near you while you meditate. Focus your intent on connecting with the crystal's energy. Close your eyes, and relax.
Meditate quietly, observing your thoughts without pursuing them or allowing them to disturb your relaxation. Maintain a state of detached observation, neither approving or disapproving about your thoughts. Allow them to come and go, simply observing their passage. Maintain your attention on your breath, and attempt to breathe deeply and evenly. Breathe in slowly and evenly from the very bottom of your stomach and inhale deeply, until you have filled the diaphragm all the way to your throat. Exhale slowly and evenly through the nostrils, emptying the diaphragm all the way down to the very bottom of the lower stomach, several inches below the belly button. If you like, count the breaths as you go, until you reach one hundred.
Throughout the meditation, visualize a powerful golden light streaming into your body from the crystal, filling it completely as you count your breaths, so that by the time you complete your meditation, your body is completely filled with the golden-green light.
Mineralogical and Metaphysical Properties of Citrine
Citrine is a powerful semi-precious stone which is a rare, more energetically powerful form of quartz crystal, characterized by a yellow color, ranging from white to deep copper. It is less common in nature than amethyst (another member of the quartz family, and one of the two semi-precious stones present in ametrine) but both are found in quartz veins, as well as volcanic locations and elsewhere in nature.
The color of citrine derives from small amounts (approximately 40 parts per million) of iron in the quartz. The difference between citrine and amethyst is only the oxidation state of the iron present in the quartz. Citrine typically is formed when an amethyst becomes heated to the point where the iron held within the crystal undergoes a further stage of oxidation.
Metaphysically, citrine combines the energy of the Yellow and the Golden Rays, activating the solar plexus chakra and the crown chakra respectively.
Working on the third chakra, which is the solar plexus chakra, associated in the Western mystery school tradition with the color yellow, citrine strengthens the bearer's energy system and infuses the "hara" center and solar plexus with Universal Life Force Energy, also known as "chi" or "prana" in the Chinese and Hindu systems of energy medicine.
Working on the seventh, or crown chakra, which is associated with the colors violet, gold and white in the Western mystery school traditions, citrine opens the gateway to Higher Mind, strengthening the energetic connection between the personality and the Higher Self, and helping us to achieve conscious awareness of our Higher Purpose in everything we do and say throughout our busy lives.
In addition, citrine is an ideal gemstone for protection. Used to strengthen the aura and surround the bearer in a bubble of golden light, citrine provides the bearer with a safe, secure personal space, free from the interference of negative or unwanted individual or collective thoughtforms, deleterious emotional states projected by others, and even inasuspicious astrological influences, which can be literally burned away when they encounter such a strong golden aura as citrine helps to create.
In our experience, citrine cleanses the emotional and etheric bodies, and stimulates the holder’s vital energies and physical body. It imparts a strong sense of protection if worn on the body or placed in a room where energy work takes place or groups gather.
Used in energy healing, citrine is said to transmit the golden light of unity consciousness, which is tuned to the very highest vibrations of an open eighth chakra -- the chakra above the crown of the head, said by the Western New Age chakra system to be the location of the Higher Self.
When Jane and I have used citrine in Reiki and crystal energy sessions with clients, they have reported feeling a gloden glow around them. We have also found that citrine is a powerful tool for extracting negative energies, gently dissolving energy blocks, and releasing negative emotions during sessions.
