GDPR Compliance Information, A Consumer Guide
General Data Protection Regulation Compliance Notice
The European Union established the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), effective May 25, 2018, to protect the privacy rights of EU citizens online.
The European Commission, which is the Executive Branch of the European Union, reformed its data protection rules because it felt that “Stronger rules on data protection mean people have more control over their personal data and businesses benefit from a level playing field.”
You can read all about these changes and how they affect your privacy rights on the EU Commission website.
The GDPR requires all companies and individuals with websites that provide content, enable e-commerce, engage in data driven marketing or display online advertising to individuals in the EU to provide increased transparency in the way they do business online, and to offer certain protections to individuals who access their online services.
The GDPR specifies the scope and nature of protected “personal data”, which includes online identifiers such as IP addresses, social media identities, and your contact info. The intent is that you, the individual, can control how “personal identifiers” are stored and used by websites you visit.
The GDPR requires that companies and individuals with websites review how they collect and store data from individuals, keep records of certain kinds of consent, and be transparent about how they use your personal data.
This EU directive allows individuals to ask questions about how their data was obtained, to opt out of marketing programs, and in some cases to ask that their personally identifiable data be deleted from the websites they visit.
This new directive applies worldwide to all entities on the Internet, since websites worldwide are accessible in the European Union.
The GDPR is intended to protect individual privacy in an age of massive data breaches, social media providers who aggregate personal data to sell to third parties, and online advertisers who target people based on data mining from many sources.
Satya Center supports online privacy rights. We want you to be clear about how we collect and use any data from those who visit our website and purchase products or services from our store.
We use a Magento webserver that saves logfiles enabling statistical analysis of web traffic. Those files and the third party tools used for that statistical analysis do not save any personally identifiable information about people who come to our website. The third party tools we use are from Google Analytics, a GDPR compliant source. We use settings in Google Analytics that show us only what ISP a visitor comes from, nothing else, and that is not personally identifiable information.
We do not research your buying or surfing habits as an identifiable individual.
We do not use cookies or other technologies to track your movements on our website to deliver advertising or other customized services to you.
SatyaCenter.com does use cookies to record the numerical Internet Protocol address (IP address) of the computer you are using, the browser software you use and the operating system, the date and time you access our site, and the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our site. This means that we do not have access to or keep any personally identifiable information about you and connect that information to your surfing habits.
We use this information to measure the number of visitors to different sections of our website, to diagnose and correct system errors and to improve the site's navigability and architecture for our viewers. We do not connect this information to your name or any personally identifiable information.
SatyaCenter.com does not sell, rent, give, trade or share your personal information with third parties without your prior consent except as compelled by law. If we are required by law to disclose the information that you have submitted, we will attempt to provide you with notice (unless we are prohibited) that a request for your information has been made in order to give you an opportunity to object to the disclosure. We will attempt to provide this notice by email, if you have given us an email address, or by postal mail if we have your postal address. If you do not challenge the disclosure request, we may be legally required to turn over your information.
We use your email address only to communicate with you when you request such communication by joining our mailing list or for other purposes at your request. We use a third party mailing list provider, who is GDPR compliant.
When you give us personal information during the process of registering as a Satya Center member, we utilize that information to pre-populate form fields in your shopping cart to expedite the checkout process, and also to provide members with emails offering them members-only discounts, sales and services.
SatyaCenter.com is a certified secure site, using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to protect your credit card number and personal information on the Internet when you purchase products and services on our website. Powerful encryption algorithms scramble your credit card number and personal information to prevent anyone from obtaining them even if intercepted in transit.
Our payment system utilizes Paypal's PayFlow Pro credit card gateway to process credit card transactions through Chase Bank. We gather only the information that is required to process your order. Your credit card information is collected by the credit card processor on their servers and SatyaCenter.com has no access to that information.
We do not ask for credit card numbers when you register as a member, nor does our system store those numbers. Our administrative interface only displays the last four digits of credit card numbers, for your protection.
If you want to exercise your right to be forgotten, or have personal information removed from this site, contact us and we will be happy to fulfill your request.
