Espiritu Santo Rutilated Amethyst is an extremely rare form of amethyst crystal that comes from the Espiritu Santo region of Brazil, and contains within it up to seven different minerals: Amethyst, Cacoxenite, Goethite, Clear Quartz, Lepidocrosite, Smokey Quartz and Rutile.
The stone exhibits enough clarity to be extremely translucent when held near any light source -- more clarity than many Espiritu Santo Rutilated Amethyst crystals, which often are opaque unless held directly up to the light.
We consider Espiritu Santo Rutilated Amethyst to be remarkable because it has the unique ability to simultaneously connect us to Higher Worlds and ground us firmly in physical reality.
Espiritu Santo Rutilated Amethyst is one of the world's premier ascension stones, valued for its ability to ground the bearer while connecting them to Divine Source.
Espiritu Santo Rutilated Amethyst is one of the world's most valued stones of protection, which we have recommended to Lightworkers, healers, corporate executives, nurses, doctors and others working in situations with very conflicted or afflicted energy fields for many years.
Espiritu Santo Rutilated Amethyst energizes the aura, and the very best protection from unwanted or negative energies in our environment is always to strengthen the auric field.
Espiritu Santo Rutilated Amethyst resonates with the energy signature of the violet flame of St. Germain.
We consider Espiritu Santo Rutilated Amethyst to be remarkable because it has the unique ability to simultaneously connect us to Higher Worlds and ground us firmly in physical reality.
Amethyst
Amethyst is the gemstone variety of quartz, produced by the presence of manganese and hematite in clear quartz crystal. Increments of iron (hematite) within the crystal as it formed vary the color of the amethyst, which can range from pale lilac to deep purple. Amethyst has been popular with royalty, sages, mystics and magicians for centuries.
“Fine amethysts are featured in the British Crown Jewels and were also a favorite of Catherine the Great and Egyptian royalty,” according to the International Colored Gemstone Association.
“Leonardo Da Vinci wrote that amethyst was able to dissipate evil thoughts and quicken the intelligence,” according to the ICGA website.
“Because amethyst was thought to encourage celibacy and symbolize piety, amethyst was very important in the ornamentation of Catholic and other churches in the Middle Ages. It was, in particular, considered to be the stone of bishops and they still often wear amethyst rings,” continues the ICGA. “In Tibet, amethyst is considered to be sacred to Buddha and rosaries are often fashioned from it.”
Amethyst is said to enhance spirituality, raise the vibrational level of the holder, cleanse the astral, etheric and physical bodies, and produce a peaceful, tranquil state of mind.
The color violet is associated with the crown chakra in the Western chakra system, while the color purple is associated with the third eye chakra, and amethyst, ranging in color from grape jam purple to lilac and violet, is said by crystal healers to activate and energize the crown and third eye chakras, connecting the bearer to Higher Mind, Higher Realms and inner spiritual guidance from extremely elevated and reliable Sources.
In the pantheon of modern day New Age Guides and Teachers, the Count de Saint Germain is called “The World Teacher” and “The Master of the Violet Ray” and is thought to communicate mind-to-mind with many, many students around the world.
Stones with a violet or purple hue, and especially amethyst, are associated with St. Germain, and resonate with the energy signature of the Violet Flame.
There is thought to be a large contingent of his students alive today in the United States, the center of modern Empire, just as Paris was the center of European Empire at the time of St. Germain.
Many New Age students of St. Germain utilize crystals and gemstones in their spiritual practice, for healing and in meditation, in a modern alchemical quest for Higher Self, Higher Mind and Higher Purpose.
Modern New Age practice encompasses a belief in the theory of karma and reincarnation. The belief in reincarnation has its roots in the Hindu and Egyptian Mystery School traditions, and is fundamental to the Greek Mystery School Tradition of the pre-Socratic philosophers.
New Age students of the Ancient Wisdom Teachings often utilize crystals and gemstones, along with meditation techniques, Reiki and past life regression therapy to access memories of past lives, and to release the detrimental patterns of behavior, negative emotions and outmoded mental maps of the world imprinted in our cells, our hearts, our minds and our karma from traumas experienced aeons ago.
Many of these modern acolytes of the Great Alchemist, Count St. Germain, utilize crystals and gemstones thought to resonate with the energy vibration of the Violet Flame, which is said to be used under the guidance of St. Germain for purification and to raise the kundalini energy in a quest for Unity Consciousness.
Such crystals and gems include especially amethyst, that violet colored form of quartz once so favored by the Pope and Bishops of the Catholic Church.
Amethyst is classically the stone of sobriety, purity and chastity and would be an excellent stone for those with tendencies toward addictive behavior, or for those spiritual seekers intent upon transformation through the progressive purification of mind, body and aura.
Rutile
Rutilated amethyst is a super-charged variety of amethyst, metaphysically speaking. The rutilated crystal contains needle-like titanium crystals inside it. The rutile ranges from brilliant silver to pale gold to rich orangey brown and the needles are arranged in dense or sparse patterns.
Rutile is a titanium ore. Titanium is used in high tech and aerospace alloys because it’s lightweight, exhibits great strength and resists corrosion.
Rutilated amethyst exhibits an high-frequency energy charge, which is particularly effective in releasing energy blockages. For energy healing, rutilated quartz can be placed near the navel or heart or thymus or around any area where the energy feels sluggish.
Rutilated quartz pendants, in my experience, when worn or carried on the person, act as a stimulant to the nervous system and the etheric body.
Rutilated quartz is said to be a regenerator of people, crystals and plants, and to help one to resist aging and the general cellular breakdown caused by time.
Cacoxenite
Cacoxenite is a rare hydrated iron aluminum phosphate that often occurs as an inclusion in amethyst. The brownish to yellowish needles are thought by some to detract from the purple purity of fine amethyst, but these gemologists are undoubtedly unfamiliar with the metaphysical properties of Espiritu Santo Rutilated Amethyst.
Melody says that cacoxenite "is a 'stone of ascension', being used by many during the myriad of planetary alignments, world meditations and during the full and new moons, in order to increase spiritual awareness on all levels, to transfer healing energy to the Earth and to provide a loving and etheral connection to all the universe."
Clear Quartz Crystal
Quartz is the low-temperature stable form of silicon dioxide or silica. Silicon and oxygen are the two most common elements in the Earth's crust. Quartz crystal is perhaps the most common mineral found on the face of the Earth. Sand and sandstone are considered “clastic” forms of quartz by mineralogists, meaning that they are formed of fragments of pre-existing rocks.
Quartz crystals have a unique ability to convert electrical energy to mechanical energy and vice versa. This is called the piezoelectric effect. Quartz crystals are ideal for receiving, storing, amplifying and transmitting energy. They are used in computers, liquid crystal display watches, radios, radar systems and many other types of advanced technologies.
Quartz crystals have been used by healers, spiritual teachers, and scientists of the sacred throughout history to receive, transmit, store, focus, amplify, transform and balance the various forms of energy found in our Universe, all of which can be considered to be interchangeable forms of Universal Light.
Quartz crystals have this marvelous ability because, metaphysically, quartz crystal expresses the unity of the five elements (Earth,Air, Fire, Water, and Ether or Spirit).Crystals grow deep in the earth and form much of the earth’s crust, yet crystals, like the element air, allow light to pass through them.
Crystals are fiery in that they have piezoelectric properties yet they are watery in their hexagonal molecular structure which resembles snowflakes, and in their ice-like appearance.
Crystals are quintessential expressions of the element of Ether or Spirit, which is synonymous with Universal Life Force Energy, the fundamental energy that sustains all forms of energy in the known universe.
Thus crystals represent the unity that underlies the apparent multiplicity of material creation, the unity of both material and spiritual worlds.
From a metaphysical viewpoint, quartz crystals are cosmic tuning forks, harmonizing the soul, mind, heart and body of the user with the vibrational frequencies of Spiritual worlds – which are after all simply realms of light resonating at a much higher frequency than the material world.
Native Americans revere quartz crystals as the brain cells of Grandmother Earth. Viewing the Earth as a living organism, primitive stones such as granite and sandstone comprise the skeleton of the organism, the Earth’s crust is the skin. Vegetation and water channels make up the lifeblood of Earth’s body, and metals and minerals function as glands, nerves and sensory organs.

“The shining water that moves in the streams and rivers is not just water, but the blood of our ancestors,” Chief Seattle explained. “If we sell you our land, you must remember that it is sacred. Each ghostly reflection in the clear waters of the lakes tells of events and memories in the lives of my people. The water’s murmur is the voice of my father’s father. The rivers are our brothers, They quench our thirst. They carry our canoes and feed our children. So you must give to the rivers the kindness you would give any brother.”
Quartz crystals, in this worldview, act as the Earth’s brain-mind, through which Spirit, the Universal Mind, maintains communication with all parts of Earth’s organism, equilibrating the earth’s temperature, moisture levels, and other important variables. In addition, quartz crystals and other gemstones collectively create and modulate an electromagnetic field around the Earth, which is a vital component of the Earth organism’s auric field, and clear quartz crystals, identified with white light, represent the unifying vibrational frequency that harmonizes the seven rainbow rays of Earth’s many varieties of gems and minerals, within that auric field.
Thus in the Native American tradition, any human being who can attune to the power of the quartz crystal is in tune with Grandmother Earth, and obtains the ability to communicate directly with Spiritual worlds.
Goethite
Goethite is a hard, heavy, silky, brownish-yellow iron ore that becomes magnetic with long heating.
Goethite is considered a stone of communication. Energy healers say that goethite enhances the bearer's ability to tune into communications from angelic realms, from Spiritual Teachers and Guides, and from other sources in spiritual realms. On the physical plane, goethite supports clarity of communication between individuals and among members of a group.
Goethite is also used to strengthen clairaudient and clairsentient abilities.
Lepidocrocite
Lepidocrocite is a dark reddish heavy hydrous iron oxide, which manifests as flattened crystal plates and becomes strongly magnetic when heated. Lepidocrocite is often found as an inclusion in amethyst crystals.
Lepidocrocite is said by crystal healers to help dissolve negativity, divisiveness and excessive ego -- both within the bearer and within the bearer's environment.
Smoky Quartz
Smoky quartz is a valuable stone of protection, which also enhances meditation and facilitates grounding to the Earth.
Mineralogists say there may be more than one cause for the gray to brown to black color range of this very popular form of quartz crystal.
Some mineralogists suggest the dark pigment in smoky quartz results from the presence of trivalent titanium or the presence of certain carbon compounds.
Other mineralogists suggest that the characteristic dark brown to black color of smoky quartz is produced when clear quartz is exposed to natural radiation emanating from radioactive rocks in the same geological formation where the quartz crystals form and grow.
The current most widely accepted scientific hypothesis is that when clear quartz is exposed to radiation, the radiation alters the oxidation states of mineral impurities found within the quartz structure, resulting in smoky quartz.
“The frequent occurrence of smoky quartz in association with rare earth and radioactive minerals is very significant, for later it will be indicated that smoky quartz may have been colored through the action of radioactive elements,” says the University of Michigan’s Edward F. Holden, in a 1925 article in The American Mineralogist. “In Ontario smoky quartz is a constant associate of radioactive minerals, and the same association is frequent in Madagascar. Enormous smoky quartz crystals occur in the well known radioactive pegmatite of Baringer Hill, Texas.”
“The evidence given thus far is in agreement with the theory that smoky quartz owes its color to atoms of silicon, formed by the disintegration of silica, through the action of radium radiations,” Holden continues. “The mechanism of the formation of the free silicon may perhaps be pictured in this way: The radiations may remove the four outer electrons from a silicon atom, which would then be equally shared by the two associated oxygen atoms. As a result, two free oxygen atoms and a free silicon atom would be formed. They could take no part in the crystal structure since their attractive force for other atoms would have been destroyed. Hence, they should act as small inclusions, the silicon atoms producing the light-scattering and the color so characteristic of smoky quartz. We would expect the silicon atoms to be most effective in scattering light because of their greater atomic weight, and the possibility of the escape of the oxygen atoms.”
From this scientific analysis it is clear that smoky quartz, although quite likely formed through the action of radioactive elements, is not radioactive itself, and this perfectly natural process is not detrimental to the crystals or to human beings utilizing these crystals for ornamentation, in meditation, for crystal healing, or for any other purpose.
Smoky quartz has been a favorite healing stone of shamanistic practitioners around the world for thousands of years.
According to modern day energy healers, smoky quartz works slowly and thoroughly to relieve imbalances in the physical and etheric bodies, with special emphasis on the solar plexus and its associated chakra, the third or Manipura chakra associated with personal power and vital energy. And it works on the hands and feet. Smoky quartz can, over time, help to balance the flow of vital energy throughout the physical and etheric bodies, and aids in the development of a healthy, fully functioning chakra system.
It is an aid in gently releasing blockages caused by negative energy patterns in the emotional body. Smoky quartz has been used as an aid in meditation, for energy healing, and to create a protective barrier of energy around the holder, being grounding and clearing the mind.
Our experience in working with smoky quartz both for ourselves in meditation and self treatment & with clients on the Reiki table is one of supreme protection, slow and deep healing, and gentle awakening of spirit. Smoky quartz guards our house, is a companion to the sick and is a humble & deep gift from the Mother.
