“The ancient traditions of priestess, shaman, scribe and storyteller serve as the foundation and inspiration for my work. For thousands of years, healers, keepers of the temple, clairvoyants and mystics have used mythical narratives woven of text and imagery to connect the sacred and the everyday worlds, and to collect and focus energies for healing, for visions, for fertility, and for community.”

"Using organic materials and colors derived from the vegetable, mineral and animal kingdoms, these custodians of the Divine created art and stories whose beauty triggered mystical states of being in the beholder. I propose to humbly follow in the footsteps of these highly evolved Ancestors, whom I honor for their work over Aeons of time to uplift struggling humanity and accelerate the progress of human spiritual evolution."

The story of the creation of Luna Moth combines the magic of serendipity and the sensuous enjoyment found when working with rich, natural beeswax.

"We happened upon this gorgeous specimen of a Luna Moth on the high forest floor in the Catskill Mountains of New York in the early Nineties, when we lived near Slide Mountain in Mt. Tremper," Jane recalls. "It had died and just presented itself to us. Co-incidentally, we had seen our first Luna Moth just one week before, when our landlords had invited us to take a look on their barn wall."

Although scientists classify the Luna Moth as a common species, very few people actually see them since they have an extremely abbreviated lifespan of approximately one week.

With a wingspan of up to 4.5", the chartreuse colored Luna Moth is one of the largest moths in North America.

"The Luna Moth is a nocturnal flying creature, and gets its name from its tendency to fly towards the light of the moon at night," Jane explains. "On a metaphysical or spiritual level, the Luna Moth symbolizes the spiritual ascent of the soul on fire to experience the light, while living an extremely short life bounded almost completely by the darkness of night, the mysteries of life and death, the unknowable aspects of the Universe."

"I placed this beautiful gift-moth inside a shadowbox fabricated from local beeswax we got from a friend's hives in Woodstock, New York," Jane recounts. "I applied no fixative of any kind to Luna, and thus the piece itself is ephemeral, just like the Luna Moth.

"The Luna Moth T-Shirts were made from high-resolution digital file of the artwork," Jane continues. "I had them printed in full color on high-quality 100% cotton fabric, so people would enjoy the full flavor of this magical and ephemeral homage to Mother Nature."
