Archangel Zadkiel's Story

Zadkiel is the Archangel of Prayer and Surrender, the Angelic Custodian of the Holy Grail and the Violet Ray and the Wielder of the Violet Flame of Transformation, Purification and Immortality.

Archangel Zadkiel in Amethyst and 22 kt gold with purpler tourmalineAccording to the Wikipedia, “Zadkiel or Hesediel (Heb.  Tzadqiel, ‘Righteousness of God’) is the Archangel of freedom, benevolence, mercy, and the Patron Angel of all who forgive. Rabbinical tradition considers him to be the angel of mercy. . .In Maseket Azilut Zadkiel/Hesediel is listed as co-chief with Gabriel of the order of Shinanim. As an angel of mercy, some texts claim that Zadkiel is the unnamed Biblical Angel of the Lord who holds back Abraham to prevent the patriarch from sacrificing his son, and because of this is usually shown holding a dagger.”

In Mystical Christianity and modern Western mystery school traditions, Zadkiel is considered to be the Archangel who appeared to Sir Galahad when he had finally surrendered in his quest to find the Holy Grail.

As Galahad meditated, deep in prayer, feeling his quest had been in vain, and offering up his own will to the Divine in the Spirit of the Crucified Christ who said, “Not my will but Thine be done,” Zadkiel and two attendant angels appeared to the prostrate Knight, bearing the Sacred Grail Cup.

“Sometime on lonely mountain-meres
I find a magic bark;
I leap on board: no helmsman steers:
I float till all is dark.
A gentle sound, an awful light!
Three angels bear the holy Grail:
With folded feet, in stoles of white,
On sleeping wings they sail.
Ah, blessed vision! blood of God!
My spirit beats her mortal bars,
As down dark tides the glory slides,
And star-like mingles with the stars.”

-- From “Galahad” by Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Zadkiel is the Archangel of Alchemical Transformation, He who answers the prayers of those who have surrendered their Will to the Divine, raising the vibrations of the Lower Mind and the egotistical personality to the higher frequencies characteristic of the Higher Mind and the Higher Self.

Thus Zadkiel is considered by Western mystics to be the Angelic Custodian of the Violet Flame of Alchemical Tranformation, the instrument of the purification of the Human Mind, Body and Soul, and thus the pathway to Immortality.

Surrender to a Love Divine, forgiveness for ourselves and others, these are the keys to Higher Realms. Surrender, love, and forgiveness bring us understanding, and elevation of the mind beyond the personality to the trans-personal realms of the Higher Self, where fear, anger, hatred, anxiety, resentment, guilt and sin are banished by the transforming power of the Violet Flame. The Violet Flame is the Spiritual Instrument elevating humanity to the realms of Divine Truth and Unity.

Metaphysical Properties of the Violet Ray

The color violet is the color of the seventh, or crown chakra, in the human energy body, and the Violet Ray is the Seventh of the Seven Rays of Creation. The Seventh Ray is one aspect of the Holy Spirit, a combination of the blue flame of faith and the pink flame of love.

The Ascended Master who is Master of the Seventh Ray is Count St. Germain, the eighteenth century reincarnation of the Western Mystic and Adept Christian Rosenkreuz, apochryphal founder of the Rosicrucian Order. St. Germain and Zadkiel work closely together, and the workings of the Seventh Ray focus greatly on the use of ceremonial magic and alchemy to purify and transmute the lower, animal instincts of humanity into higher impulses, higher thought-forms, more evolved emotional states, and more purified energetic signatures at all levels of being.

In the pantheon of modern day New Age Guides and Teachers, the Count Saint Germain is called "The World Teacher" and "The Master of the Violet Ray" and is thought to communicate mind-to-mind with many, many students around the world. There is thought to be a large contingent of his students alive today in the United States, the center of modern Empire, just as Paris was the center of European Empire at the time of St. Germain.

Many New Age students of St. Germain utilize crystals and gemstones in their spiritual practice, for healing and in meditation, in a modern alchemical quest for Higher Self, Higher Mind and Higher Purpose. Modern New Age practice encompasses a belief in the theory of karma and reincarnation. The belief in reincarnation has its roots in the Hindu and Egyptian Mystery School traditions, and is fundamental to the Greek Mystery School Tradition of the pre-Socratic philosophers, as we discuss at great length in the online E-Book “Spirits of Stone: A Lightworker's Guide to Crystals for Healing and Meditation.

New Age students of the Ancient Wisdom Teachings often utilize crystals and gemstones, along with meditation techniques, Reiki and past life regression therapy to access memories of past lives, and to release the detrimental patterns of behavior, negative emotions and outmoded mental maps of the world imprinted in our cells, our hearts, our minds and our karma from traumas experienced aeons ago.

Many of these modern acolytes of the Great Alchemist utilize crystals and gemstones thought to resonate with the energy vibration of the Violet Ray, under the guidance of Master St. Germain and Archangel Zadkiel for purification and to raise the kundalini energy in a quest for Unity Consciousness. Such crystals and gems include especially amethyst, that violet colored form of quartz once so favored by the Pope and Bishops of the Catholic Church.

Amethyst is the gemstone variety of quartz, produced by the presence of manganese in clear quartz crystal. Increments of iron within the crystal as it formed vary the color of the amethyst, which ranges from pale lilac to deep purple. Amethyst has been popular with royalty, sages, mystics and magicians for centuries.

“Fine amethysts are featured in the British Crown Jewels and were also a favorite of Catherine the Great and Egyptian royalty,” according to the International Colored Gemstone Association.

“Leonardo Da Vinci wrote that amethyst was able to dissipate evil thoughts and quicken the intelligence,” according to the ICGA website.

“Because amethyst was thought to encourage celibacy and symbolize piety, amethyst was very important in the ornamentation of Catholic and other churches in the Middle Ages. It was, in particular, considered to be the stone of bishops and they still often wear amethyst rings,” continues the ICGA. “In Tibet, amethyst is considered to be sacred to Buddha and rosaries are often fashioned from it.”

Amethyst is said to enhance spirituality, raise the vibrational level of the holder, cleanse the astral, etheric and physical bodies, and produce a peaceful, tranquil state of mind. The color violet is associated with the crown chakra in the Western chakra system, and so this extremely bright violet amethyst is said by crystal healers to activate and energize the crown chakra, connecting the bearer to Higher Mind, Higher Realms and inner spiritual guidance from extremely elevated and reliable Sources.

According to Melody’s fine book Love is in the Earth, amethyst “can be used to protect against psychic attacks; the energy of the attack being transmitted to the transmitted to the universe after its transformation into a positive, loving energy.

Amethyst is classically the stone of sobriety, purity and chastity and would be an excellent stone for those with tendencies toward addictive behavior, or for those spiritual seekers intent upon transformation through the progressive purification of mind, body and aura.

Metaphysical Properties of Tourmaline

Tourmaline is the name given to a family of minerals forming hard, slender vertically striated prismatic crystals, often hexagonal or rhombohedral in shape, with a high specific gravity, classified as complex aluminum borosilicate.

Like quartz, tourmaline crystals will generate an electrical charge when pressure is applied in the direction of the vertical axis. This is called piezoelectricity. In addition, some tourmaline will generate an electrical charge when heated.

Tourmaline is the birthstone for the month of October and the Zodiacal sign of Libra. In ancient Hindu tradition, the tourmaline is a stone of motivation, which impels the wearer toward the good, and a "teller" stone that gives insight in times of duress and can identify sources of distress in the wearer's environment.

Shamanic practitioners in African, Native American and Aboriginal tribes used tourmaline to provide protection from physical danger and to amplify healing powers.

All forms of tourmaline are thought to balance the left and right hand sides of the brain, harmonizing rational thought with intuitive insights. Tourmaline helps release victim consciousness and maintain a sense of humor, faith and confidence in the reality of one's own inner vision.

Common tourmaline is black, and the lighter colors, such as blue and light green, are much more rare. The colors in the stones are created by the presence of various metallic ions such as iron, titanium, chromium, and others. The various colors of tourmaline are associated with the seven primary chakras within the human aura.

Purple tourmaline resonates with the crown chakra, and activates the Higher Mind, helping to establish a connection between the egoistic personality and the Higher Self.
