This beautiful new pendant from one of our favorite suppliers is made with a beautiful soft edged triangular labradorite cabachon with a brilliant Bi-Color Tourmaline accent stone.
Labradorite is a wonderful stone which displays chatoyance, or that reflective quality of irridescent or fire-like light which is found in such gemstones as star sapphire, moonstones, opals & tiger eyes. It is a member of the feldspar family & I have found it to be very centering. It seems to assist in gently aligning soul purpose with clear intellect & the emotions.
I wear labradorite when there is a lot going on in my life & I need to stay focused on what is most important. I find it to be a wonderful Soul assistant when I need to focus on many planes of existence.
I also feel that it is easier to think clearly when I wear labradorite, if I am feeling a bit scattered. It helps to ground my electrical energies so that I am able to focus more clearly in order to find a grounded centering point, from which to approach the many influences which serve to distract me.
When I am feeling beset with too many influences or worries, if I feel I am 'picking up' on too many different energies, I sleep with a black tourmaline under my pillow, and always have a restful sleep, feeling protected from overextending my energies.
Tourmaline is the name given to a family of minerals forming hard, slender vertically striated prismatic crystals, often hexagonal or rhombohedral in shape, with a high specific gravity, classified as complex aluminum borosilicate.
Like quartz, tourmaline crystals will generate an electrical charge when pressure is applied in the direction of the vertical axis. This is called piezoelectricity. In addition, some tourmaline will generate an electrical charge when heated.
Tourmaline is the birthstone for the month of October and the Zodiacal sign of Libra. In ancient Hindu tradition, the tourmaline is a stone of motivation, which impels the wearer toward the good, and a "teller" stone that gives insight in times of duress and can identify sources of distress in the wearer's environment.
Shamanic practitioners in African, Native American and Aboriginal tribes have used tourmaline for centuries to provide protection from physical danger and to amplify healing powers.
Common tourmaline is black, and the lighter colors, such as blue, are much more rare. The colors in the stones are created by the presence of various metallic ions such as iron, titanium, chromium, and others. The various colors of tourmaline are associated with the seven primary chakras within the human aura.
Bi-Color tourmaline provides the wearer with a highly charged gateway to higher worlds, supportive of meditative practices and inner journeying.
When I wear this combination of stones, of Bi-Color Tourmaline with Labradorite, I am able to be grounded in my Soul purpose and feel supported in my Spirits desire to evolve in the crucible of the everyday world.
All in all, this is a very beautiful, protective & helpful stone for our modern times when we are asked to reach for Higher Planes while balancing the many demands of daily life, family, children, careers & our own health and that of our loved ones.
