Full Moon in Aquarius, Leo Solar Festival 2013 Cosmic Weather Forecast

By Curtis Lang and Jane Sherry on Aug 20, 2013

A Grand Trine and a Grand Cardinal Cross Dominate the Skies

“Fear not the Earth changes that are creating drought and floods, for the Universe continues to provide you with meaningful signs, synchronicities and energetic support in these difficult times. If there is little rainfall, and therefore no rainbow, you are still provided with the circular Sunbow which like the rainbow is a signature sign of Divine Guidance and of your alignment with Higher Purpose. Despite negative emotions, social chaos, environmental problems and more, we ask that you persevere in your spiritual practices and in your work in the world and you will yet achieve the transformative success you seek at every level of being.”

Welcome to Satya Center’s Leo Solar Festival, Aquarius Full Moon 2013 Cosmic Weather Forecast, brought to you by your Editors, Curtis Lang and Jane Sherry.

The Full Moon occurs this Tuesday, August 20, at 6:45 PM Pacific Daylight Time, or 9:45 PM East Coast time at 28° 11’ of Aquarius, opposed by the Sun at 28° 11’ of Leo.

Here in Antioch, Jane and I have been blessed with a series of amazing celestial phenomena. You may recall the beautiful Lenticular Clouds shaped like Flying Saucers we sent you pictures of a little while ago. Here is a new picture of a recent circular Sunbow that appeared right above our house!

We were so amazed and grateful to receive this profound message from the Universe at this time of turmoil and emotional drama.

This has been a difficult year for our families. Jane’s Dad died this spring. We saw my Dad in a nursing home in Houston last month, and he is too weak to talk much or feed himself any more.

We planted a fig tree, a rose bush, and several other large bushes in our garden right away when we got back from Houston because Jane wanted to get her hands in the soil and I wanted to play with the garden hose and the new multi-spray nozzle I just acquired.

The next day a six day heat wave hit with highs above 105° in the day and in the seventies at night. We irrigated more and the only plants we lost were some baby nasturtiums. Yay!

Here in Northern California, as a gardener, Jane has been very concerned about the lack of rain. This year we have needed to radically increase the irrigation in our tiny garden here in Uber-Suburbia.

As we contemplate moving to a piece of land in California where we could grow our own vegetables and herbs, as we did in upstate New York a few years ago, we are realizing that big gardens in inland areas of California will require obscene amounts of water to establish, like most new gardens.

A much bigger concern because of water politics, fracking and climate change, is that water is becoming an increasingly fragile resource in this country! Something else to consider. When we first moved here, we heard of a neighbor here in town with Redwood trees who is spending hundreds of dollars a month just on those trees alone. Redwoods are native to the coast where there is much more rain and fog to feed those thirsty trees!

A large part of the spiritual practices Jane and I perform consists in being “in tune” with the seasonal cycles and mini-cycles unique to the place where we live. We try to inform ourselves about the soil conditions, the weather patterns, the sources for water and the native flora and fauna in our grassy hill country of the deep inland East San Francisco Bay.

This is part of what we do to honor the devas, elementals and nature spirits.

This is part of becoming more than isolated egos and joining into the magic of the dance of life we see in the plant and animal kingdoms and in the weather patterns that unfold during the yearly cycles of life and death.

So for Jane and for me the garden is a sacred altar, and it is the place where we connect to Earth, to sky, to water and to fire. Our gardens are an offering to the Great Web of Life in its myriad expressions.

Here in our Uber-suburban back-yard garden, we are experiencing a more “normal” summer in Antioch this year, which has meant some new challenges for us.

Since we moved here in 2010 the East San Francisco Bay area has enjoyed more rain than normal and cooler weather than normal, but this year we are very dry and temperatures roller-coaster up and down week by week, with some roasting weeks featuring several days above 100° and other balmy weeks with highs in the 70s or low 80s.

This roller-coaster weather pattern in our little garden mirrors the roller-coaster Cosmic Weather patterns we see when we gaze up at the stars at night under our backyard umbrella.

Meanwhile, far from our garden, in Washington and New York, there is a lot of “happy talk” about economic recovery and the miracles of fracking technology to deliver decades of extremely dirty fossil fuel energy to the voracious American economic engine. They say this will solve our problems.

In our personal lives, in our work, Jane and I are feeling a sense of possibility in the air this month. We have a feeling that we are finally connecting to the expansive, beneficent Jupiter influence in the Sky.

We are now in a Starscape dominated by Jupiter, and have been for a few months, after several years of Saturn-dominated, no-frills austerity and restrictions.

Jane and I are also aware that the so-called economic recovery is extremely fragile and that wide-spread fracking could destroy the aquifers and water table of much of rural America, so we are not buying into the “happy talk” we see on TV and read in the mainstream news.

Simmering global tensions in every quarter threaten to destabilize nation-states, ignite regional warfare, and plunge the global economy back into severe crisis.

The Republican Party in America wants to shut down the government this fall unless the Democrats agree not to implement Obamacare.

Global financial markets are wary, hoping that the threat of another governmental debacle will deter the Federal Reserve from “tapering” their multi-trillion dollar expenditures designed to inject liquidity into “too-big-to-fail” banks and prop up the fragile US economy and the tottering global financial system.

The Egyptian military government has begun shooting civilian protestors seeking to return Egypt’s elected leader, Mohamed Morsi, to power. The Arab Spring is fast becoming an Arab Civil War, in Egypt and elsewhere in the Middle East.

In Syria, America and allies, including al Qaeda affiliated Sunni Moslem rebels, face off against the Syrian government and its allies, including Russia and Iran.

This bloody conflict in Syria, and the emerging civil war in Egypt threaten to escalate into a broader regional war between Sunni and Shi’ite Moslems throughout the region. These conflicts could drag major military powers into a protracted confrontation through their proxies that could eventually trigger armed struggle between the major powers.

So it’s been a year with lots of ups and downs, lots of personal and family stress and sadness, and no visible major improvement in economic, political, environmental or social problems that threaten to tear our civilization apart.

We were delighted to see the Sunbow, which our Guides sent us to affirm that we are on the path in life corresponding to our Higher Purpose.

We have seen rainbows at crucial turning-points in our lives for many many years, and they are always a sign that we should stay steadfast in our commitments, loyal to our ideals and our Higher Purpose, in the face of all difficulties, external and internal.

The Sunbow seemed to say to us, “Fear not the Earth changes that are creating drought and floods, for the Universe continues to provide you with meaningful signs, synchronicities and energetic support in these difficult times.

The symbol of the Sunbow is very appropriate for this Full Moon. The Sabian Symbol for this month’s Full Moon in Aquarius is A Butterfly Emerging from the Chrysalis, and represents the capacity to completely transform the character of one’s consciousness by radical alteration of outworn habits, negative patterns of behavior, and toxic relationships that figure prominently in one’s life.

Although this Full Moon has some challenging aspects to it, we are all being given a golden opportunity to focus on the spiritual meaning of the Leo Sun - Aquarius Moon opposition this week, and through this waking meditation we will find Guidance that will help enable us to maintain our equilibrium in these trying times.

Leo is all about Me. My Self. Self as Star, and the development of will forces within the personality. The quintessential egoistic personality.

Aquarius is all about Us. Our Group. Our Common Ground, and the development of Right Human Relations through the difficult practice of working in groups for common goals of vast importance.

Within individuals the Aquarian energy stream harmonizes with and activates the activity of Higher Mind and Higher Purpose, so that the limitations of the egoistic personality may be overcome and the deficiencies and bad habits of the egoistic self may be transformed.

The opposition of these two Cosmic Energy Signatures at the Full Moon this week prompts us to shine a spotlight on our own inner Lion and to simultaneously activate the Water-Bearer within.

Now is the time to re-examine how we harmonize our own needs, our own individual Higher Purpose, with the need to work with others on common goals.

Now is the time to look beyond our own narrow self-interest and understand how our own well-being is totally dependent upon right relations with others, and upon a host of collective thought-forms, emotions and actions that dwarf our own individualities.

Examples of such collective energy fields include the hive mind of the stock markets; the ideological systems of political parties designed to induce conformity among their memberships; the ancestral blood karma that forms much of the collective consciousness of various races and ethnicities; the militant patriotism and incipient militarism exhibited by all types of nationalisms; the righteous intolerance and rigid moral systems inherited from antiquity typical of fundamentalist religious groups; the ingrained set of intellectual pre-conceptions and mental maps of the world formed by members of the highly segregated economic classes in our society; or the learned role playing that defines our gender and sexual identities at an early age.

We are asked at this Full Moon Festival to meditate upon the Web of Social Connections that define our own identities, and to ask ourselves whether we are able to maintain our own individual Higher Purpose while working within the social parameters defined by the social groupings with which we identify.

We are asked to meditate deeply upon these collective energy fields and thought-forms that shape our consciousness, our personalities, and our day-to-day activities in all areas of life.

We are asked to ponder whether we are best served by participating uncritically in these collective energy fields or whether we must perhaps begin to break free from these inherited traits and behaviors and pre-conceptions in order to best be of service to humanity as a whole.

We are asked to question whether we are sufficiently aware of the needs of the Group, of Humanity as a whole, as we pursue our own personal path of Spirit and our own Higher Purpose, as best as we know how.

We are asked to remember the importance of manifesting the energy of Right Human Relations.

More than ever before in human history a Balance must be restored; between the rich and the poor; between male and female; between East and West; between North and South; between Christian and Moslem, and Jew and Hindu; between humanity and the Realms of Nature.

We are reminded that it is only through the Aquarian virtues of respect for others and selfless service for the good of the Whole that we will be able to restore the Balance that is required to serve as a Foundation for the creation of a new set of social, political, economic and spiritual relations for suffering Humanity and the health of our home planet, Earth.

My Inner Guides and Teachers have asked me to ask you all to meditate upon these concepts during this Full Moon weekend. They assure me that if any one of us asks to be given vivid examples, pictures, and demonstrations of these important Wisdom Teachings being energized by the Cosmic Energies of this month's Full Moon, the Universe stands ready to oblige.

The Grand Cardinal Cross – It’s Baaaaaack!

This week’s Full Moon features the activation of a Cardinal Grand Cross that’s forming between Venus in Libra, Jupiter in Cancer, Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn.

Everyone will feel the affects of this season’s iteration of the recurring Grand Cardinal Cross formation that characterizes life in the 2010s. However, those with personal planets in any of the Cardinal signs of Cancer, Libra, Aries and Capricorn will feel this energy most.

Long-time readers of this newsletter know that since the 2007-08 Global Financial Meltdown, we have published numerous articles about the effects of the challenging long term outer planet activities which constitute the defining energy signature for the collective human enterprise on planet Earth in this decade.

The Global Financial Meltdown of 2007-08 coincided with the emergence of the infamous Uranus-Pluto square which provided the basic building blocks for the Grand Cardinal Cross formation which emerged in 2010 and which reappears at intervals throughout this decade.

The Grand Cardinal Cross formation dominates the Cosmic Skyscape again this Full Moon so we are going to take a look at how this epochal Cosmic energy signature is affecting us now, and how its permutations are likely to affect us in the next months and years.

We have been fortunate to be able to tune into the astrological wisdom of Bill Herbst, longtime editor at The Mountain Astrologer magazine, who has written over 100 articles on the Grand Cardinal Cross aspects, including several at Satya Center.

In his 2011 article Clarifying the Timeline of Change: 2012 and BeyondBill said that 2012 is “the end of the beginning of the Great Transformation” in human civilization, which results from the transition from the Age of Cheap Oil to the Solar Age of Clean Energies.

“My take on the astrology of 2012 and beyond (basically, through the symbolism and history of the Uranus-Pluto first-quarter square) is that this entire decade will be marked by an unfolding series of sporadic but ever-more-frequent shocks,” Herbst warns.

“The collective breakdowns/awakenings/cosmic cattle prods/whatever will most likely unfold in increments,” Herbst continues. “Each new development in the accelerating cascade of collapse/breakdown events will cause a small percentage of former sleepers to be jolted awake. No single event or time period in the years ahead is likely to do
more than that. Though the pace of change does accelerate, the overview is still little by little rather than all at once.”

“My private expectation is that we probably can’t look for any real or effective responses at the collective level to the accelerating cascade of crises until the last four years of the decade---2016 at the earliest,” Herbst predicts. “My more pessimistic side tells me that we can wait for the positive changes until we’re blue in the face, however, which means that they’ll simply NEVER occur in our lifetimes. Quite possibly not until the 2040s, if then. The decade of the 2010s, however, will almost entirely be taken up with short-term responses and dubious quick fixes to a multi-faceted long-term crisis---a set of interconnected challenges that will shape the next 400 years of human social evolution.”

This Full Moon we are witnessing another phase in the ongoing collapse of the Age of Oil, neo-liberal economic models, and globalized capitalism that we predicted in our February 2008 newsletter entitled The Coming Collapse of Globalization, very early in the present long-wave slow-motion global crisis of human civilization.

We followed that up with another newsletter entitled October 2008 Financial Meltdown which analyzed the scope and the ideological, political, social and economic causes of the events that triggered what was to become a $14 trillion bailout of the bankrupt financial services industry of the United States, and a global economic crisis that still lingers years later.

The current multi-year crisis transcends legitimate concerns about how to fuel new economic growth and provide energy for the masses at the end of the age of cheap oil, or class-based political struggles over the proper configuration of rules and regulations in a capitalist economy.

The events described in this newsletter point to a much more fundamental transformation in human affairs that will be required if our civilization is to survive and thrive.

This twin financial and ecological crisis marks the end of the High Industrial Age of Hydrocarbons, brought about by uncontrolled greed and predation in financial markets and by the onset of peak oil production – indicated by the dwindling reserves of cheap easily obtained fossil fuels, which guarantees that supplies of the fuels that support our current way of life will be increasingly expensive and environmentally destructive year after year from now on.

The current political conflict about the environmental impact of fracking technology to increase oil and gas supplies in the US and around the world indicates the issues that we face today.

More importantly, this crisis marks the beginning of the end for the American Empire, neo-liberal capitalism, and existing power relations all over the world.

America has gone over to the Dark Side under George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

From being the country that protected the world from totalitarian dictatorships of the right and the left, fascism and communism, America has become a caricature of its former enemies.

America is now the country that spies on the world’s email, phones and computers, with or without the permission of the governments in other countries! Europe, China, and the rest of the non-Anglo Saxon world is up in arms and threatening to replace American Internet hegemons like Google and Facebook with home-grown Web service providers who are not part of the global spy apparatus of the United States government.

Since Jane and I were children, we’ve heard that America is the world’s policeman. But oh, how the identity of that global cop has changed!

The folksy charm of the American lawman typified by 1960s John Wayne movies has morphed into the doom and gloom of a modern 21st century Batman movie where Batman is a self-appointed global secret policeman and vigilante armed with predator drones and nuclear weapons in a world without good guys, heros, or any moral center. Today’s global cops kill the “bad guys” without ever looking them in the eye, and when hordes of innocent bystanders are killed, it’s just “collateral damage”, part of the job, no more, no less.

America is no longer the leader of the developed nations of the world in any meaningful way, as a society.

A recent issue of Orion magazine explored America’s purported decline in an article by James Speth, entitled America the Possible: A Manifesto.

Speth analyzed the challenges facing America today, and explored ways forward. Speth says that:

“The group of twenty advanced democracies—the major countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, the Nordic countries, Canada, and others—can be thought of as our peer nations.

Here’s what we see when we look at these countries.

To our great shame, America now has

• the highest poverty rate, both generally and for children;

• the greatest inequality of incomes;

• the lowest social mobility;

• the lowest score on the UN’s index of “material well-being of children”;

• the worst score on the UN’s Gender Inequality Index;

• the highest expenditure on health care as a percentage of GDP, yet all this money accompanied by the highest infant mortality rate, the highest prevalence of mental health problems, the highest obesity rate, the highest percentage of people going without health care due to cost, the highest consumption of antidepressants per capita, and the shortest life expectancy at birth;

• the next-to-lowest score for student performance in math and middling performance in science and reading;

• the highest homicide rate;

• the largest prison population in absolute terms and per capita;

• the highest carbon dioxide emissions and the highest water consumption per capita;

• the lowest score on Yale’s Environmental Performance Index (except for Belgium) and the largest ecological footprint per capita (except for Denmark);

• the lowest spending on international development and humanitarian assistance as a percentage of national income (except for Japan and Italy);

• the highest military spending both in total and as a percentage of GDP; and

• the largest international arms sales.

“Our politicians are constantly invoking America’s superiority and exceptionalism,” Speth explains. “True, the data is piling up to confirm that we’re Number One, but in exactly the way we don’t want to be—at the bottom.”

“These deplorable consequences are not just the result of economic and technological forces over which we have no control,” argues Speth. “They are the results of conscious political decisions made over several decades by both Democrats and Republicans who have had priorities other than strengthening the well-being of American society and our environment. Many countries, obviously, took a different path—one that was open to us as well.”

It is true that America still has full-spectrum military dominance on planet Earth and that is a truly historical event.

It is true that the dollar underpins the global financial and economic system and that America benefits greatly from that arrangement.

It is true that Americans consume more than their fair share of the world’s energy resources on a per capita basis, and it is also true that the U.S. military is the world’s largest consumer of oil.

The American Empire may be like the Empire of the Romans, and take centuries to expire, or it may be transformed in the next decade or two of unprecedented global change into a country that none of us today would imagine could exist – for either good or ill.

That said, the emergence of the decade of the Grand Cardinal Cross points to a turning point for humanity, and of an end to the culture of hierarchy and male domination that has existed for thousands of years, ever since the establishment of large-scale agriculture, priestly accounting castes, giant-sized grain storage bins, and a predatory, hereditary class of "nobles" in civilizations around the world, from Mesopotamia to Egypt to Europe to Asia.

Everywhere you look on planet Earth in the early 21st century, large-scale social systems of all varieties are extremely stressed.

The great monotheistic religions of the world, which represent the patriarchal model of spiritual aspiration, have declared war on one another.

The great Powers of the world, America, China, Russia and the rest, are positioning themselves to obtain a lion's share of dwindling global hydrocarbon fuels, by peaceful means or by use of military might if necessary.

It is clear to thoughtful observers that the Gulf Oil Spill, global warming, resource wars in the Middle East, and the unbridled greed and predation inflicted upon the world by financial elites represent the ultimate result of a human civilization based upon the domination of society by predatory financial, political and religious elites.

We are slowly destroying the Earth's ability to sustain human life as we know it today. We are impoverishing billions of innocent human beings and concentrating unprecedented wealth in the hands of fewer and fewer predators.

Are we poised on the cusp of a global revolution, or are we about to descend into a multi-century Dark Age of neo-feudal post-Enlightenment scarcity, environmental catastrophe, and warfare?

On an individual level, and on a global scale, the current global crises, reflected in the stars by the Grand Cardinal Cross, challenge us to transcend our conflicts with others and to find ways to work together for our mutual benefit and for the overall good of humanity.

The problems of peak oil, resource wars, religious wars, and overly hierarchical societies governed by predatory elites can only be solved by an unprecedented level of co-operation on the individual, family, neighborhood, local, national and global scale.

The great challenge for all of us is to overcome our differences and work together to solve the problems that are common to all humanity.

That's a really tough assignment!

My guidance tells me that the more we can co-operate with one another to find innovative, equitable solutions to our common problems that will benefit everyone involved, the better the outcome will be for all humanity.

Humanity is now entering a space of transition, a time of choice and commitment, when the old withers and dies, and the new struggles to be born. Humanity is blessed with an opportunity to embrace a new vision for human civilization.

We are entering what my spiritual Guides call an "omnidirectional gateway" with the potential for humanity to make choices that will shape an entirely new reality on planet Earth.

It's important for all of us to understand that this global crisis is a golden opportunity for humanity to choose accelerated spiritual progress, which will manifest as global agreements to avoid environmental disaster, diplomatic solutions among warring nations and co-operation among friends, neighbors and family to implement energy-saving life strategies and local solutions to the twin environmental and energy crises.

Depending on what choices we make, humanity may emerge from this civilizational gateway into a world of total war of all against all, into a world that resembles the Dark Ages, or into a world in which together we find ways to transcend the limits of the current Industrial Age of Global War, Global Markets and Global Environmental Crisis.

Aquarius Full Moon Grand Water Trine and Summer 2013 Cardinal T-Square

We are in a marathon, not a sprint!

The epochal changes signaled by the emergence of the Grand Cardinal Cross are extremely long-term influences and changes, and they involve the entire collective consciousness of humanity, so it is understandable if each of us feels helpless from time to time, frustrated, unsure of the path forward for us individually or collectively.

And this month’s Full Moon brings us not only the difficult Grand Cardinal Cross aspect, but also a very powerful and positive Grand Trine in Water.

So take a break, have a long slow steam or massage, take a walk in nature without your iPhone! Decompress, de-stress and prepare to experience the joy of the flow!

This Grand Trine has been in place since June, and many astrologers have been saying that it resonates with the energy of the Harmonic Convergence of 1987, and provides a powerful window for healing, spiritual growth and harmonious emotional flow.

However, with the simultaneous appearance of outer-planet configurations like the Cardinal T-square prominent in summer 2013, the Uranus-Pluto square sequence that triggered the Global Financial meltdown of 2007-8, and the decade long iterations of the Grand Cardinal Cross, there is the potential for the Water Trine to amplify any negative emotions we may be experiencing, and also to lull us into a state of dreamy optimism which is unrelated to the reality of our current situation.

Jane and I have found that the energies of the Grand Water Trine have made us much more sensitive to the emotional states of others around us, so much so that we are feeling besieged by collective angst, anger, fear, impatience, frustration and irritability.

We all need to practice the techniques of Psychic Self-Defense Jane and I enumerate in the article of the same name on our website.

On the plus side, we have found that during this Grand Water Trine our spiritual practices, meditation and Reiki are extremely powerful for us at this time, and bring us rest, relaxation, rejuvenation and the guidance we need to maintain our emotional equilibrium and be of maximum service in the world for those experiencing even more difficult times than we are this year.

So read on and a little further along in the newsletter we offer you a very beautiful Sunrise Meditation designed to energize body, mind and aura. A strong aura is the best protection anyone can have in chaotic times like these.

Try it for yourself!

To crystallize the Big Picture in the Sky, we turn to Astrologer Bill Herbst, who analyzes the importance of the Grand Water Trine in his 2012 article on the astrology of 2013-2014 on our website.

“A Grand Trine is an equilateral triangle formed by three planets, each one of which is 120° from the other two,” Herbst explains. “In geometry, this is a ‘perfect’ triangle.”

“Grand Trines symbolize smooth operation that is insulated against outside influences, like a path of least resistance. They are wonderful to have during times of calm stability. During periods of turbulence or tumult, however, Grand Trines are a liability, since they’re habit-based and resistant to change. Grand Trines most often form within signs of the zodiac that share a common element: Fire, Air, Earth, or Water, and indicate insularity and a certain self-absorption in action, relatedness, pragmatism, or feeling,” Herbst continues.

“The particular Grand Trine is in water signs between Jupiter (in Cancer), Saturn (in Scorpio), and Neptune (in Pisces). Another indicator of good faith about finding workable but probably idealistic solutions for the future.”

“The downside to this alignment is that it lobbies against change. Fantasies embraced by the culture will tend to be reinforced, at least by those who already believe them,” according to Herbst. “Because we are now in a time of tumultuous, unpredictable challenges to life-as-we-know-it, the Grand Trine is unlikely to win new converts to escapist dreams. But some events may occur that will convince a certain percentage of the population that everything is just fine (or will be fine without requiring a uncomfortable changes in our ways of living). For those people, the Grand Trine will be a last hurrah for clinging to outmoded beliefs.”

“. . .I’ve written often that throughout the 20th century, which had three decades marked by quarterly transitions of the Uranus-Pluto cycle, the most provocative and profound changes of the 1900s, the 1930s, and the 1960s did not occur during the actual alignments of Uranus and Pluto, but instead emerged fully only years later,” says Herbst. “With hindsight, we can see the seeds of tumultuous change that germinated during the alignment periods, but we couldn’t imagine the fruit they would bear until it appeared much later. When the changes did finally appear, whether exciting or traumatic, the impact was still shocking, as if the changes had come out of nowhere.”

“I anticipate that this decade of the 2010s will adhere to that scenario of delayed timing combined with shock and surprise when change finally bursts forth as the status quo finally gives way,” theorizes Herbst. “Although the Uranus-Pluto first-quarter square technically occurs between June 2012 and March 2015, I doubt that we’ll see much during that period of almost three years that will be as shocking as what will come after, from 2016 on and into the 2020s.”

Herbst believes that the Grand Cardinal Cross and its constituent permutations, such as the Uranus-Pluto Square and the Cardinal T-Square formation that dominates the sky from July 2013-June 2014 will be the major factor creating Cosmic Weather patterns that will color our lives throughout the next year.

“July 2013 [saw] the first pass of a year-long cardinal T-square with Jupiter in Cancer opposite Pluto in Capricorn to form the base, while Uranus in Aries is the apex, and Libra the target sign,” Herbst explains. “This represents a roughly one-year period where the ongoing build-up of sporadic shocks, limited upheavals, and incidents of provocative change (Pluto in Capricorn) begin to sink in at the personal, emotional, and family levels of our collective psyche (Jupiter in Cancer). A sizable percentage of people may be jolted awake; some will probably even embrace the impetus for change, becoming active proponents of radical reform (Uranus in Aries). The key will be cooperation with others (Libra as target).”

“Since the T-square will coincide with the beginnings of a momentous and epochal Grand Cross in the U.S. chart between the U.S. natal Sun and Saturn aligned against transiting Uranus and Pluto, significant breakdowns might occur in the economic and financial sectors that are not merely headline newsmakers, but carry actual impact on people’s daily lives in a more immediate way than in years past (although probably still in pockets rather than culture-wide; that doesn’t emerge until years later),” Herbst predicts.

“The mounting challenges to America’s status as an empire and the world’s most dominant nation that have so far produced only cracks in the façade begin in 2013 to weaken the foundations of both the global economy and the political pyramid atop which America perches,” continues Herbst. “More and more people will realize that the days of American Exceptionalism are numbered, and that we can no longer call the shots however we wish.”

“All great empires fail, and they tend to do so from the inside out, rotting from within long before they collapse overtly,” says Herbst. “The rotting is usually slow and gradual, while the eventual collapse comes with shocking suddenness, as in the case of the British Empire disintegrating after World War II or the more dramatic collapse of the Soviet Union in the late 1980s. The T-square and U.S. Grand Cross imply that the gradual hollowing out is likely to accelerate and deepen, even if outward collapse is still many years away.”

Sunrise Meditation for Protection, Healing and Abundance

Kriya Yoga Dawn Exercises

This is a variation on meditations taught by Shri Yukteswar and Drunvalo Melchizedek. This meditation practice is an excellent antidote to the atmosphere of fear, anger, aggression and greed that surrounds us every day.

Every day we are exposed to the collective thought-forms and emotions of millions upon millions of individuals who are hungry, politically oppressed, impoverished, and at war with the world.

Every day the global news media and the Internet surround us with all the propaganda disseminated by greedy, corrupt and aggressive political “leaders” in countries all over the world.

Every day the global news media and the Internet surround us with emotional poisons including: images of celebrity glamour and status-driven over-consumption, advertising messages designed to manipulate our emotions, and “news” stories designed to instill feelings of helplessness and subservience to the existing social order.

In addition our families, friends, neighbors and relatives are all experiencing the same toxic energetic load from the ambient collective consciousness of humanity, and we are all finding it difficult to navigate our Path of Spirit during these tumultuous times of global change and personal transformation.

The very best form of psychic self-defense is to perform spiritual practices designed to strengthen the auric field and the flow of energy throughout the human organism.

This beautiful morning meditation offers a proven technique for strengthening the aura, increasing access to Higher Mind and Spiritual Guidance, and purifying mind, heart, body and soul.

Begin your day with a few minutes of silent contemplation as you lie on your back with your eyes closed or better yet seated in a chair, or in half lotus position. I have also done this meditation in a half lotus seated under a tree or walking mindfully in a garden.

Acknowledge your guides and teachers, and give thanks for the new day.

Notice the breath going in and out of your nostrils.

Place your tongue at the top of your palate, behind your teeth. Breathe in through the nostrils, working from the stomach, while you count to seven. (If you can't reach seven, then just keep track of your own personal count and repeat the same number each time you breathe.)

Breathe out through the nostrils, while you count to seven.

Continue to breathe deeply, in and out, to the count of seven.

While you inhale, imagine the Sun is right above your head.

See the golden liquid light of the Sun pour down over your head and into your prana tube.

The prana tube is approximately two inches in diameter and extends from a point about a foot above your head through the center of your body, exiting at the perineum and extending down into the earth about a foot.

The liquid light of the sun pours down that tube into your heart.

As you exhale, see the silvery liquid light of the Earth rise up from far beneath your feet into your prana tube, all the way into your heart.

As you continue to breathe, see the golden and silvery liquid light continue to pour into your prana tube from above and below.

Do this breath ten times.

Unity Affirmations for Self-Realization

 "I unify my physical body, my etheric body, my astral body, my egoistic will and my lower mind with my higher self, my higher purpose, and my higher mind."

I unify my higher self, higher purpose and higher mind with the grand unfolding plan for the optimization of the Universe and the liberation of all sentient and non-sentient beings in love and light."

"I unify my higher self, higher purpose and higher mind with the Atman within, the Great Father Mother Source within."

" I feel the downpouring flow of love and light from the Atman within."

" I feel the uprising flow of kundalini energy from deep within the Earth, from deep within my root chakra, and as these flows of love and light meet and intermingle in my heart of hearts -- I am the I am, I am that I am, I am that I am."

With each inhalation and each exhalation, more and more liquid silvery and gold light pours into the heart.

Now, every time you inhale, golden liquid light pours down from your crown chakra into your heart while silvery liquid light pours up from your root chakra into your heart, at the same time.

Now, every time you exhale, silvery liquid light pours up from your root chakra into your heart, while, simultaneously, golden liquid light pours down from your crown chakra into your heart.

By the fifth or sixth breath, the silvery and gold light fills your heart.

See the silvery and gold liquid light pouring from your heart into the rest of your body, filling it up entirely, all the way to the tips of your fingernails and toenails and the tips of the hair on your head.

After ten breaths, relax for a moment.

Then do the same breath sequence, inhaling to the count of five and exhaling to the count of five, five more times.

Invoking the Cosmic Christ

As you do the next five breaths:

1. See a rainbow colored beam of light shoot up from the top of your prana tube into the sky, rising up about fifty miles above the surface of the Earth.

2. See this rainbow colored light fill the sky, and expand until it surrounds the entire planet.

3. See a rainbow colored beam of light shoot down from the bottom of your prana tube deep into the Earth, filling the Earth and its waters with brilliant colors.

4. Invoke the secret name of Christ. Chant the following to yourself over and over, "Yod, Heh, Vau, Heh, Yod, Heh, Shin, Vau, Heh", pronounced "Yod, Hey, Vow, Hey, Yod, Hey, Shin, Vow, Hey". These Hebrew letters stand for JHVH or Jehovah, and JHSVH (Jeheshua or Jesus). The four letters comprising the name of Jehovah, YHVH, stand for the four elements, fire, water, air and earth. The fifth element, which is spirit, is called Shin. When you put Shin, or spirit in the middle of the four elements, into YHVH, you get Jeheshua, or Jesus. Jesus indeed infused spirit into the material world through his Divine presence and ability to sacrifice everything, even his own body, for love. So chant these nine letters over and over to yourself as you meditate and breathe deeply and slowly. In this way, you can attract Christ consciousness, the spirit of Jesus, into your aura, your mind, and your heart.

That rainbow colored light represents Divine Love in the form of Living, Intelligent Light (Holy Spirit, prana, Reiki energy), transformed into the beautiful energy signature of the rainbow, which has always been a symbol of the unity between this world and the Divine, between God and humanity.

By giving back to Sky and Earth, we acknowledge our interdependence with all the sentient and non-sentient beings in spiritual and material realms, with the living light and with the mystery underlying creation.

Sun Salutation

At the end of this second round of breathing, take an additional three breaths in the same manner.

While you breathe, imagine that silver and gold liquid light radiates out from your heart, filling your aura, a sphere that extends about an arm's length in every direction around your body.

Imagine your aura glowing like the sun, radiating light out into the world in every direction.

After these breathing exercises, relax your body and your mind.

Keeping your eyes closed, and breathing deeply and slowly, reflect on the rising sun, know the sun to be a living being, and reflect on the qualities of the sun you would like to make your own.

The sun gives generously to all without exception without asking for return. The sun represents, purity, conscious will, cosmic intelligence, limitless light, and so much more.

Connect your sphere of light with the sun's sphere of light in your own mind.

Acknowledge that the sun is a sentient spiritual being. Thank the sun for being such a good model for you, for helping you on your spiritual path each and every day.

Thank your spiritual teachers and your holy guardian angel for the protection, grace and guidance they provide you every day. Thank the devas and nature spirits of  the place where you currently reside for helping to maintain the equilibrium of natural forces that sustains all life on Earth. Thank Mother Earth for birthing you and nurturing you in her body.

The ideal time to do this meditation is, of course, dawn, but evening twilight is also a propitious time for this exercise. If you get up later than dawn just perform the practice soon after you arise.

Jane and I join with you this Full Moon in meditation and in our practices. Our wish is that you experience the power of gratitude, the joy of loving, and the abundance of grace, energy, discernment and Guidance you need to be at one with your Higher Purpose, Higher Mind and Higher Self.

Meditation Moment: Activism as Spiritual Practice

In the late 1990s, environmental activist Julia Butterfly Hill spent two years living in a redwood tree she named "Luna." Her goal was to save it from being cut down by a logging company.

She succeeded both literally and mythically. Luna was spared from death, as was a surrounding three-acre swath of trees. Hill became an inspiring symbol of artful, compassionate protest.

Later she told Benjamin Tong in the DVD The Taoist and the Activist:

"So often activism is based on what we are against, what we don't like, what we don't want. And yet we manifest what we focus on. And so we

are manifesting yet ever more of what we don't want, what we don't like, what we want to change." So for me, activism is about a spiritual practice as a way of life. And I realized I didn't climb the tree because I was angry at the corporations and the government; I climbed the tree because when I fell in love with the redwoods, I fell in love with the world. So it is my feeling of 'connection' that drives me, instead of my anger and feelings of being disconnected."

Jane and I see you all surrounded by love and light this Full Moon Festival, and our wish is that you be granted the grace and guidance you need to achieve your goals in life, along with many golden opportunities to be of maximum service in the world!
