This beautiful, slim, elegantly formed 7 carat Scintillating Fire Boulder Opal Elegant Pendant is a stunning & sparkly specimen from Australia, or Oz, as its known to locals. Look into this pendant  deeply, and you'll see what appear to be extremely reflective splashes of flash & fire, appearing like metallic flakes, radiating in every color of the rainbow.

This pendant comes in a sterling silver setting open in the back, so the stone can 'breathe' & with a simple sterling silver chain which will sit upon the thymus, between the throat and the heart chakras, where it will be of most beneficial resonance. It also comes in its own velvet jewelry case.

Australian Boulder Fire Opal on Ironstone matrix pendantThe base color of this spectacular specimen is iridescent sky-blue with splashes of deep magenta, brilliant spiky yellow, orange and red, punchy pink and what seem like all the other colors of the rainbow flashing within this gorgeous stone.

This beautiful fiery opal is on the natural matrix of ironstone, visible on the backside of the pendant. The ironstone gives these opals a real grounded energy signature!

We recently spotted these lovelies at a gem & crystal show & grabbed the nicest of the AAA lot. We're glad we did too, because as we kept asking our suppliers for opals, we noticed the price had gone through the roof!

Mineralogical and Metaphysical Properties of Opals

The opal is the birthstone of those born in the dazzling month of October, when autumn brings a riot of colors to the forests of the Northern Hemisphere. The mysterious color play on the opal's surface has rendered this gemstone a highly prized collector's item for millennia in both Eastern and Western cultures. The word opal comes from the Sanskrit word "upala", meaning "precious stone," and the later Greek word "opallios", meaning "to see a change of color."

Opals are hard, very light and somewhat fragile gemstones composed of micro-spheroids of hydrous silica, and is never found in crystalline form, but rather in small veins, globules or crusts in rock formations. When these tiny microscopic spheres stack in an orderly fashion, forming a complex latticework structure, the play of light refracted through the latticework creates the various beautiful colors we associate with the opal. The size of the spheres and the cavities within the latticework determines the color spectrum that the opal exhibits to the naked eye.

When opals are exposed to the air, they can lose water, and even become filled with tiny fractures, so many gemologists recommend bathing these precious stones from time to time.

Opal is a stone of visions, a stone to promote lucid dreaming, and a stone prized by artists and creative people to stimulate the imagination and trigger inspiration.

Native American shamans and Australian aboriginal medicine men use opals to stimulate clairvoyant visions, to obtain meaningful dreams foretelling future events, and to connect with the "dreamtime", the state of Unity consciousness that transcends the space-time continuum as we know it.

Opal is known as a stone of love, and has been traditionally a gemstone acquired by those seeking successful relationships. Opal has been used traditionally as an expression of unconditional love, as the love of a mother for her daughter, and also to promote steadfast fidelity in love relationships between the sexes.

The fire within the opal is said to stimulate the inner fire of the bearer, helping to activate the kundalini energy which is said to reside in the root chakra, and which, when activated, rises to the crown of the head, triggering a variety of mystical experiences. Thus opal is said to stimulate the crown chakra and to enhance our connection with Higher Mind, Higher Self and with Spiritual guidance originating in Higher Worlds.

This gemstone pendant has been cleaned with Universal Life Force Energy, and given an energy attunement using Reiki, a Japanese technique of energy healing, so it will continue to receive and transmit Universal Life Force Energy direct from the Source of Creation. It has also cleaned and charged with the natural energy of sunlight. It is ready for you to program according to your own needs and desires. We know you will use this love-gift from the Divine Mother with your own loving wisdom, respecting its long journey in the Earth that has lasted for many long historical cycles.

The Opal

Mother:
"Come, let me place a charm upon thy brow,
and may good spirits grant, that never care
Approach, to trace a single furrow there!"

Daughter: "Thy love, my mother, better far than charm,
Shall shield thy child -- and yet this wondrous gem
Looks as though some strange influence it had won
From the bright skies -- for every rainbow hue
Shoots quivering through its depths in changeful gleams,
Like the mild lightnings of a summer's eve."

Mother: Even so doth love pervade a mother's heart;
Thus, ever active, looks through her fond eyes."

Gems of Beauty, by the Countess of Blessington, 1836
