Mineralogical and Metaphysical Properties of Amethyst

Amethyst is the gemstone variety of quartz, produced by the presence of manganese and hematite in clear quartz crystal. Increments of iron (hematite) within the crystal as it formed vary the color of the amethyst, which can range from pale lilac to deep purple. Amethyst has been popular with royalty, sages, mystics and magicians for centuries.

“Fine amethysts are featured in the British Crown Jewels and were also a favorite of Catherine the Great and Egyptian royalty,” according to the International Colored Gemstone Association.

“Leonardo Da Vinci wrote that amethyst was able to dissipate evil thoughts and quicken the intelligence,” according to the ICGA website.

“Because amethyst was thought to encourage celibacy and symbolize piety, amethyst was very important in the ornamentation of Catholic and other churches in the Middle Ages. It was, in particular, considered to be the stone of bishops and they still often wear amethyst rings,” continues the ICGA. “In Tibet, amethyst is considered to be sacred to Buddha and rosaries are often fashioned from it.”

Amethyst is said to enhance spirituality, raise the vibrational level of the holder, cleanse the astral, etheric and physical bodies, and produce a peaceful, tranquil state of mind.

The color violet is associated with the crown chakra in the Western chakra system, and so this extremely bright violet amethyst is said by crystal healers to activate and energize the crown chakra, connecting the bearer to Higher Mind, Higher Realms and inner spiritual guidance from extremely elevated and reliable Sources.

Count St. Germain, AlchemistIn the pantheon of modern day New Age Guides and Teachers, the Count de Saint Germain is called “The World Teacher” and “The Master of the Violet Ray” and is thought to communicate mind-to-mind with many, many students around the world.

Stones with a violet or purple hue, and especially amethyst, are associated with St. Germain, and resonate with the energy signature of the Violet Flame.

There is thought to be a large contingent of his students alive today in the United States, the center of modern Empire, just as Paris was the center of European Empire at the time of St. Germain.

Many New Age students of St. Germain utilize crystals and gemstones in their spiritual practice, for healing and in meditation, in a modern alchemical quest for Higher Self, Higher Mind and Higher Purpose. Modern New Age practice encompasses a belief in the theory of karma and reincarnation. The belief in reincarnation has its roots in the Hindu and Egyptian Mystery School traditions, and is fundamental to the Greek Mystery School Tradition of the pre-Socratic philosophers.

New Age students of the Ancient Wisdom Teachings often utilize crystals and gemstones, along with meditation techniques, Reiki and past life regression therapy to access memories of past lives, and to release the detrimental patterns of behavior, negative emotions and outmoded mental maps of the world imprinted in our cells, our hearts, our minds and our karma from traumas experienced aeons ago.

Many of these modern acolytes of the Great Alchemist, Count St. Germain, utilize crystals and gemstones thought to resonate with the energy vibration of the Violet Ray, which is said to be used under the guidance of St. Germain for purification and to raise the kundalini energy in a quest for Unity Consciousness. Such crystals and gems include especially amethyst, that violet colored form of quartz once so favored by the Pope and Bishops of the Catholic Church.

According to Melody’s fine book Love is in the Earth, amethyst “can be used to protect against psychic attacks; the energy of the attack being transmitted to the transmitted to the universe after its transformation into a positive, loving energy.

Amethyst is classically the stone of sobriety, purity and chastity and would be an excellent stone for those with tendencies toward addictive behavior, or for those spiritual seekers intent upon transformation through the progressive purification of mind, body and aura.

Mineralogical Properties of the Diamond

The diamond is a transparent, highly lustrous extremely hard gemstone, which exhibits perfect cleavage, meaning that this amazing stone can be easily cut along four cleavage planes, making it possible to create highly faceted cut diamond gems and jewelry. For all these reasons, the diamond has been prized by gemologists and Lightworkers alike since the dawn of recorded history and is the most valuable and energetically powerful of all gemstones.

The name diamond comes from the Greek word adamas, meaning unconquerable, and refers to this brilliant gemstone’s incomparable hardness. The diamond is the hardest naturally occurring material known to science. A diamond is 140 times harder to cut than a ruby or sapphire.

Diamonds typically crystallize into tetrahedrons composed of carbon atoms. Tetrahedrons are 4-sided closed geometric figures composed of equilateral triangles. In other words, they are three sided pyramids lying on a base of equal area.

The crystal lattice structure of the diamond consists of spiraling chains of these tetrahedral carbon molecules, which are connected together to form a very regular framework of interlocking tetrahedral helixes.

Both quartz crystals and diamonds have a tetrahedral atomic structure.

However, the diamond is composed entirely of carbon atoms, and the bonds between the carbon atoms in each tetrahedral molecule are so short and so strong that the diamond is extremely difficult to cut.

Thus the diamond is the hardest substance occurring naturally on Earth, but can be easily cut along any tetrahedral face.

The diamond is also the best conductor of heat on Earth, which is appropriate for the strongest tetrahedral molecule on the planet, because according to Mystery School traditions of both East and West, the tetrahedron is associated with the element of fire.

Metaphysical Properties of the Diamond

According to Wisdom School traditions of sacred geometry, the tetrahedron is the very first three dimensional solid manifested in the material Universe.

In sacred geometry, the tetrahedron is considered the most basic and fundamental of the five Platonic solids, considered by Western mystery school traditions to be the three dimensional manifestations of the five elements found in nature -- fire, water, air, earth, and ether, also called quintessence, space or Spirit.

Geometrically speaking, the five Platonic solids are convex polyhedra with equivalent faces composed of congruent convex regular polygons.

The tetrahedron is the strongest and most stable of the five Platonic solids, because it encloses the least volume with the greatest surface area.

In the Timaeus, Plato associated each of the four classical elements (earth, air, water, and fire) with a particular polyhedron found in nature.

Fire was associated with the tetrahedron, water with the icosahedron, air with the octahedron, and Earth was associated with the cube.

According to the online Wikipedia, "There was intuitive justification for these associations: the heat of fire feels sharp and stabbing (like little tetrahedra). Air is made of the octahedron; its minuscule components are so smooth that one can barely feel it. Water, the icosahedron, flows out of one's hand when picked up, as if it is made of tiny little balls. By contrast, a highly un-spherical solid, the hexahedron (cube) represents earth. These clumsy little solids cause dirt to crumble and break when picked up, in stark difference to the smooth flow of water. The fifth Platonic solid, the dodecahedron, Plato obscurely remarks, "...the god used for arranging the constellations on the whole heaven". Aristotle added a fifth element, aither (aether in Latin, "ether" in English) and postulated that the heavens were made of this element, but he had no interest in matching it with Plato's fifth solid."

According to the Mystery School Teachings of East and West, the tetrahedron, a manifestation of the element of fire, corresponds to the vital energy that resides deep within the bowels of the Earth. That same fire energy found in the tetrahedron is the vital force that fuels the growth and development of minerals, plants and animals around the world.

That energy is known as kundalini energy, and is found only in human beings among sentient creatures inhabiting the planet Earth. Kundalini is the energy that drives the process of spiritual ascension and facilitates the attainment of the spiritual goal of liberation, or enlightenment, and corresponds to the Holy Spirit in Christian tradition.

The fire element also corresponds to the power of will and intention, and to the ability to manifest one's intent in the material world.

Thus there is a clear affinity between sacred stones with a basic tetrahedral structure, such as quartz crystals and diamonds, and the Universal Life Force Energy, making these stones ideal for the storage, amplification, and transmission of that energy for a variety of purposes.

The Ancient Rishis, the Holy Sages of India, who wrote the Vedas, the oldest wisdom teachings known to recorded history, said that the diamond has 10,000 times the subtle energetic power of a quartz crystal of comparable size.

The diamond is called vajra in Sanskrit, the magical language of the Vedas, and is associated in Vedic Astrology with the planet Venus. The diamond is used to ameliorate imbalances in the Venus energy of a natal chart. Diamond is also traditionally used in Vedic Astrology to promote spirituality, improve mental concentration, and for protection against all kinds of evils.

Both Hindu and Buddhist traditions place great importance on the highly purified diamond orthunderbolt body (vajra body), which the meditator, the advanced spiritual practitioner, achieves through arduous exercise, dietary restrictions, renunciation and abstinence, meditation and Divine grace - and of course the judicious use of crystals and precious gems.

The Agni Purana tells a fabulous story about the mystical origins of the vajra. In Ancient days, the great Demon Vrittasura defeated proud Indra, Lord of the Gods and Wielder of Thunder and Lightning in battle. The gods were driven from their home in the heavens, and Indra, very downcast, approached Brahma, the High Lord and Creator, to ask for help.

Brahma said that on Earth there lived a great sage named Dadhichi, who spent most of his time in meditation, and who had achieved Samadhi, the elevated state of Unity consciousness.

Brahma said that if Dadhichi would agree to give his spine, and if Indra could fashion a vajra, orthunderbolt, Indra’s favorite weapon, from Dadhichi’s spine, then Vrittasura could be defeated.

Dadhichi, being a Master of Compassion and also an ascetic who was basically unattached to his physical body, readily agreed to Indra's request.

Dadhichi told Indra to cover his body in salt and to have a black cow lick the salt off. The cow licked the skin right off Dadhichi"s bones, and Indra recovered the hermit’s spine intact, giving it to his architect Vishwakarma for carving.

Vishwakarma lived in a celestial realm at that time which was protected from Demonic intrusion.

Vishwakarma carved a beautiful thunderbolt dorje from Dadhichi's spine, but in the course of his work high above the Earth, some bits of the spine fell to the ground. The spots where the four largest pieces fell became the first diamond mines, and diamonds have been known as vajras ever since.

In those places where other chips of Dadhichi’s spine fell to Earth, deposits of other precious gems appeared.

That is how precious gems appeared on Earth.

All diamonds and precious gems are infused with the spiritual energy of Dadhichi and of Dadhichi’s compassionate self-sacrifice, which was made for the benefit of the gods themselves, and that is why precious gems have such potent spiritual power.

This crystal has been cleaned with Universal Life Force Energy, and given an energy attunement using Reiki, a Japanese technique of energy healing, so it will continue to receive and transmit Universal Life Force Energy direct from the Source of Creation. It has also cleaned and charged with the natural energy of sunlight. It is ready for you to program according to your own needs and desires.

Note: weight above is shipping weight. Net weight is 2.87 grams without the chain. Approximate weight of amethyst gemstone is 8.75 carats.
