The termination has lovely angled facets visible in the photo here. This gemstone is a new variety for us which we recently acquired, and of course we had to try meditating with it to see what its metaphysical qualities are like. We find that Apatite Gemstones have an upper chakra influence engaging the crown, third eye & even the 8th chakra (above the body), which is often the case with many golden colored stones. The faceting and good termination on this little gemstones adds a coherent energy so that one can feel quite focused, connected to spiritual guidance with ones heart & root chakra connecting to Higher Wisdom as well. Overall, the effect in working with lovely apatite is very grounding and imparts a wonderful healing feeling of connection between Divine Source, humanity & our Mother Planet. It also imparts a very solid connection to Life Force Energy & I would recommend this little gem to anyone for their meditation bag, altar bowl (see our gemstone bowls) or altar, bedside table or anywhere handy to use at any time of the day. It would also be an excellent stone for use during a Reiki self treatment or with a client or other energy work. This is a stone I would take for a walk in the city to keep me grounded & connected to Higher Wisdom. Apatite has a mid range hardness of 5, it has hexagonal crystals which frequently appear prismatic, sometimes tabular & can be granular to compact & stalactitic. It is a phosphorous bearing mineral developing in igneous & metamorphic rocks, present in North America, Germany, Spain & is even found in marble deposits in Ontairo Canada. The colors of Apatite range from green, brown, red, yellow, violet, pink, white and colorless with a vitreous appearance. It's name comes from the Greek word apate, meaning "deceit" because of the close resemblance & confusion with several other minerals such as aquamarine, olivine & flourite. According to Melody in her encyclopedic work "Love is in the Earth", apatite can assist in the development of clairvoyant, clairaudient and clairsentient abilities; assisting in integrating & balancing the emotional, intellectual, physical and etheric bodies. It can be of assistance in any humanitarian pursuits with assistance in "the expansion of knowledge and in the disclosure of the 'truth to freedom'". She further states that apatite has been used as an appetite suppressant & can be used at "the physical level to focus healing energy on the systems, glands, meridians, and organs of the body". I certainly cannot attest to that, but I can say that after a meditation session with Apatite, that I feel really good, strong & connected. Note: Actual Weight is 10.68 ct.
