home >> store >> crystal gallery >> garnets >> Tanzanian Tsavorite Garnet Nugget This unusual 13.97 Tanzanian Tsavorite Garnet Nugget is both a mineralogical collector's item and a metaphysical tool for consciousness expansion. The Tsavorite Garnet is a very rare, very hard and extremely brilliant gemstone found in East Africa, and highly prized by gem and mineral collectors for its beauty, deep color and transparency. A large, early find of this unusual type of garnet was discovered in the Tsavo National Park in Kenya in 1971, near the Tsavo River, and when the gemstone was marketed worldwide by Tiffany's the name Tsavorite was born. Only in rare individual cases is a raw crystal of over 5 carats found, so a cut tsavorite of more than two carats is a rare and precious thing. But then that is one of the special features of this gemstone: that it can display its great luminosity even in small sizes.  Garnets have been used for millennia in shamanistic healing and spiritual traditions across the globe, by Native American Indians, Aztecs, Mayans, and African medicine men and healers. Garnet is also one of the stones found in the breastplate of the Israeli High Priest in the Old Testament.Garnets typically are used by spiritual healers to transmute negative energy or stuck energy within a sick person into healthy energy, and to restore the proper flow of life force energy throughout the individual's body. The bright green color of the Tsavorite garnet indicates its affinity with the heart chakra, normally associated with the color green in the Western chakra system.
