Labradorite is a wonderful gemstone, a member of the feldspar family that is slightly harder than quartz crystal, and which fluoresces well, displaying yellow striations under black light.
Most important for jewelers, Labradorite displays chatoyancy, or that reflective quality of irridescence or fire-like light which is found in such gemstones as star sapphire, moonstones, opals & tiger eyes. The word “chatoyancy” is coined from the French "œil de chat," meaning "cat's eye."
Gemstones display chatoyancy because fibrous inclusions within the stone cause light to reflect in a coherent fashion – perpendicular to the fibrous inclusions in the mineral – creating streaks of bright light across the surface of the stone always running perpendicular to the direction of the fibers. The effect is like light on silk or (nearly) still waters.
Energetically, I have found Labradorite to be very centering. It seems to assist in gently aligning soul purpose with clear intellect & the emotions.
I wear Labradorite when there is a lot going on in my life & I need to stay focused on what is most important. I find it to be a wonderful Soul assistant when I need to focus on many planes of existence.

Garnets are vitreous, translucent gemstones with a hardness rated significantly above quartz crystal, characterized by the presence of aluminum and manganese, which imparts their striking reddish orange color.
