This museum quality specimen of Kyanite & Quartz Cluster is from Minas Gerais, Brazil exhibiting the very beautiful clean cobalt blue coloring which I often refer to as "Mary Blue". It has a very long large single deep blue blade, a long columnar kyanite piece crossed by another shorter good sized kyanite blade which supports this piece in a stable manner. Toward the base a large piece of quartz emerges out of the quartz matrix.

Blue-green kyanite has great chatoyancy which is the bright reflective opalescent light seen on various gemstones. It can even be seen in the unpolished state. Kyanite is said to aid in balancing yin & yang energies, as an aid to meditation & as a way to unify all the chakras. As with all blue stones, it also assists the throat chakra & is a valuable aid in communication, both with others and with the higher mind, guides & angelic beings. Also as in other blue stones, kyanite is a tremendous assistant in bringing our minds to a place of peace & quietude.

It has certainly been a stone to quiet my mind, assist in meditation, help me to focus & ground energies, especially when feeling torn in several directions at once.

Kyanite has the distinct advantage of being one of those stones which, metaphysically, is said to remain clear & not require clearing (as are such other stones such as super 7 and citrine). It is believed that these stones do not accumulate or retain negative energy. However, we always clear & clean our crystals & Reiki attune them, because in our experience, it is always wise to keep all of your magical tools as clear as possible!

You must be careful with any natural unpolished kyanite specimens as they are only in a hardness range of 4-7 so they can be brittle, which is typical of most glass like non-metallic minerals. It has a vitreous pearly luster, which is what makes it so appealing & soothing. It can range from translucent to transparent & grows in fibers, which is why it is often seen in long columnar forms.

These are very unusual and highly desirable kyanite clusters & would make a welcome addition to any mineral collection, meditators altar or beautiful numinous object for any room in the house.
