home >> store >> art gallery >> photographs >> Summer Stream This photograph was taken when Curtis and I lived in Mt. Tremper, New York, in the Catskill mountains. We walked a long hiking trail behind our house most days, spring, summer, fall and winter, and on these walks we discovered magical transformations of light, shadow, and color visible in the ever-changing vegetation and the path beneath our feet, sometimes dirt and rock, then grass and moss, mud and leaves, finally, snow and ice. We marveled at the constantly shifting quality and density of the air itself, and the way that our footsteps and the impact of our walking sticks would resound with completely different sounds from day to day, week to week, and month to month, delivering these mountain woods to us new-born again and again. In summertime, the water in the woodland streams became so luminous that it almost disappeared in the camera lens. Summer Stream is printed in a signed, limited edition of 250 on 8.5" x 11" semi gloss photo paper. | |||||||
