The Tibetan Water Project

Letter From Dr. Marsha Woolf

Dear Friends,

We seek tax-deductible donations to help with a water crisis in many of the Tibetan schools in India. Their water is polluted and each year, especially during the rainy season, some of the children get sick. In fact, through the years some children have died. I have worked with Tibetan refugees over the past 21 years, and have personally witnessed thousands of patients with compromised health as a result of water related problems. In 2002, while we were working int he Dehra Dun area, it came to our attention that a number of young monks at a nearby monastery school became ill from contaminated water and one died. This inspired us to begin a water purification project.

Since 2002, we have successfully installed 40 water purification systems in schools and Homes for the Elderly near Dehra Dun. This has greatly reduced the incidence of water-borne contaminants and improved health. At the sites where the systems are in place, no one has become ill from the contaminated water.

We must act to make the children's schools safe. The purification systems cost can range from $300 to $1000 per unit and each school may need a few units. We work very hard to keep our operating costs at minimum. Your donation will enable us to purchase, install and service these water purification systems.

Water purification is a priority project of TRHCP. Please make your tax-deductible contribution by check, payable to Alternative Resources, and send to the address listed below. Please designate the memo that your donation is for water purification. Or you can make a general donation to our organization.

On behalf of all Tibetan refugee children, we thank you.

With prayers,

Marsha Woolf
