Weather Report from Jane's Garden

Weather Report from Jane's Garden

2003 was a very stormy year filled with flowers. Steady snowstorms all winter & a rainy spring. Twice I watched the little spring by the neighbor's house creep perilously close to spilling over its banks. A wet Spring, Summer and Fall. Rain and more rain all summer making it difficult to harvest flowers for oils and teas And now a wet winter, water never fully absorbed by the earth during the last year. We watch the impromptu pond in the back freeze and melt. It is inspiring to see Nature in all her guises and gifts! The slide show above shows just a few of the flowers from my garden in what was a year of abundant blooms! The Echinacea was a sea of buzzing bees & butterflys while the anise hyssop created new borders in the garden addition. The bronze fennel attracted a gang of swallowtail caterpillars and we got three cuttings from the nettles.

With love from Pleasantville, NY
