When fire moves
like a flood and

each smallest breath
is a claim, each sigh

a relinquishing, you ask
what a thousand-year-old Sequoia

has learned of the wind.
What does it desire?

When only the tallest prayers
rise beyond black clouds

blistering the sky, it‚s time
to embrace what burns.

Spirit confirms what matter knows.
